Gardone Riviera

Gardone Riviera is located on the west coast of Lake Garda, located between the municipalities of Salò and Toscolano Ma-derno. This municipality is divided into Gardone di Sopra and Gardone di Sotto. Along with seven other municipalities on the west coast, Gardone is part of the Limoni Riviera. The surroundings of Gardone are an unforgettable memory and atmosphere of the past, with its lakefront and the Grand Hotel, the Haller botanical garden, the Vittoriale of the Italians. The climate is mild throughout the year, thanks to the natural protection of the hills that enclose the place. Also of great importance is the cultivation of olives and lemons on hilly and mountainous territory.
Gardone became a significant tourist destination at the end of the 18th century, as influential German tourists and doctors were convinced that the resort and its surroundings had great health benefits. The Austrian Luigi Wimmer, after a long healing stay in Gardone Riviera, eed the first large hotel of the din-lathes and promoted this image of a healing Gardone throughout Europe. The most famous place of interest is the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone di Sopra, owned by the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio from 1912 to 1938. In the building, surrounded by many beautiful gardens, there are the tomb of D'Annun-zio, an open-air theater, the museum of D'Annunzio and a library. Many events attract numerous tourists to Gardone annually, including many outdoor concerts, festivals, sporting events, and exhibitions.
